About Aruba and the event
Aruba, One Happy Island with waving palm trees, pristine white beaches, azure seawater, refreshing trade winds and high temperatures. Here you will experience the ultimate catamaran championship. You will race under ideal conditions on the smooth water, right off the magnificent coast of Palm Beach. Afterwards, on the beach, you can enjoy delightful happy hours, beach dinners and dancing under the palm trees. The diverse program and ideal conditions ensure a great sailing week for all sailors. But it will also be a great week for non-sailing partners, children and friends, with plenty of opportunity to watch the regattas, discover the island, play golf, go diving or just relax on the beach. We will do everything in our power to give you a wonderful holiday and sailing week, and would be happy to welcome you on Aruba in November.
Aruba One Happy Island
A small island in the Southern Caribbean, just fifteen 15 miles off the coast of Venezuala. Aruba is 19.6 miles long and six miles across at its widest point. Aruba’s unique topography of world-renowd sugar white beach fringing the calm water of the south and west coast; a craggy windwhipped northeast coast hammered by rough seas; and an interior of desert landscape punctuated by interesting rock formations and a few mountains.
Discover the island by 4-wheel drive or quad. And play golf or take a swim and snorkel to see all the tropical fishes. Visit the galleries and museums in Oranjestad. Watch the sunset and enjoy a Caribbean blender drink.
A tropical stay
The welcoming Holiday Inn Resort, home base of the participants and the regatta, is situated on the beautiful white beach of Palm Beach. The boats are moored on the beach right in front of the hotel. The hospitable staff of the Holiday Inn Resort will ensure a pleasant stay in the largely renovated hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Good food and drinks
On Aruba we take good care of our guests. Your day starts with a proper breakfast in the morning and during the event you are offered five lunches and five diners. Almost every afternoon, Heineken will organize the happy hour at around 5 pm. Furthermore, the Aruba Bottling Company supplies sodas and water every day to quench your thirst. On the nights off, you can enjoy excellent meals in numerous restaurants close to the hotel or in Oranjestad where you can also experience the bustling nightlife.
Flights
Martinar will bring you safe and fast from Amsterdam to Aruba. This fall, Martinair will fly all days to Aruba.
The races
The races will be held right in front of Palm Beach and the hotel. The generally calm sea and stable off-shore trade winds (average NE 4-6 BF) ensure that all sailors will enjoy a wonderful sailing week. The safety of the sailors is of the utmost importance and will be provide by Aruba Watersports Center.
